About Joe

Keeping it real. Keeping it simple.

I feel that therapy should be natural — keeping it real, keeping it simple. Our relationship is at the core of the work: hoping to help you gain awareness, for a deeper enjoyment of life. In our sessions I aim to work in the here-and-now, forever curious, and fully open to the spontaneity of our connection.

We move at your pace, exploring at relational depth and rational inquiry. I bring humour and enthusiasm, calm and a light touch. I also come with a lot of lived experience, and am no stranger to the hard knocks of life.

I know that taking that first step into the therapy room is the hardest — but once you do, I am here for you.

My foundation is working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, so I am sensitive to the complexities of trauma. I have also published four novels, so creativity runs through my approach — to my ways of working, and to how I sit with a story.

So, let’s meet, and see how we roll.
Whatever your story, I look forward to meeting you.

How I work

A blend of ways, held by one relationship

To add to my formal humanistic training, I work with a blend of mindfulness, Gestalt, Jungian psychology, philosophy, literature and dream-work. I'm fascinated by the mysteries of the unconscious, and the unknown forces which can direct our lives. I can also work with goal-setting and motivation, improving the clarity of thought using a range of practical cognitive techniques.
